'Pelli Choopulu', the small budget Telugu wonder of 2016, has created as big a phenomenon at box office this year that it brought manifold profits to all the involved. There had been severe competition among other film industries to grab the remake rights. Senior Bollywood producer Vashu Bhagnani has couple of days ago bagged the Hindi remake rights for a good price. Hence, we can expect a good launch pad for this remake in Bollywood.
As per the latest reports, the Tamil remake rights of PC have been acquired by Gautham Menon, who has never directed the remakes of other directors' films. He is least expected to helm the remake of 'Pelli Choopulu' and in all probability, he will only wear the producer's hat. Here comes a big problem.
We have seen how much Nithin's 'Courier Boy Kalyan' suffered and Naga Chaitanya's 'Saahasam Swasaga Saagipo' suffering to get a proper release. These two films were produced by Menon himself. When Nithin's film released after a long delay in labs, the stale output was rejected by movie goers. The fate of Chaitu's SSS also is unpredictable. Two more completed Tamil production ventures of Menon are still unreleased, the director's financial issues are said as the reasons. With most of Menon's production ventures rotting in labs before hitting screens, will Pelli Choopulu face similar destiny, fans wonder?
