Aatadukundam Raa Telugu Movie Review

Movie Name :: Aatadukundam Raa (2016)                   Movie                                          Rating
                                                Aatadukundam Raa        5/10
Cast  :: Sushanth, Sonam Bajwa
Music :: Anup Rubens
Director :: Nageswara Reddy
Producer :: Naga Susheela, Chintalapudi Sr

About Film ::

Karthik (Sushanth) comes to solve the problems of his uncle Anand Rao (Murali Sharma). He is on a mission to teach a lesson to the bad guys. Meanwhile, he falls in love with Anand Rao's daughter Shruthi (Sonam Bajwa). Although Karthik seems to be helping Anand Rao and his family, there is a hidden secret about him. He comes to Anand Rao's house in disguise. There is a reason for him to take up this mission.

Performance ::

Sushanth has tried new hairdo and look. Bearded look suited him. He is fluid in dances but hasn't improved as an actor. He is still struggling to mouth dialogues. Sonam Bajwa is a very bad actress and has totally depended upon skin show to make her presence felt. Brahmanandam's lengthy comedy track isn't funny. Prudhvi did alright within his limitations. Murali Sharma's dignified presence and performance are noteworthy. Posani is as loud as usual. Most of the remaining star cast is wasted in insignificant roles. Naga Chaitanya and Akhil Akkineni did cameos which should impress fans.

Analysis ::

Sushanth has got his styling right, but sadly he chose a very bad script for his makeover. Nageswara Reddy who is known to be a reliable director messed it up big time. The film starts off on a sensible note, but suddenly goes down the hill after it switches to comedy. The director relied too much upon comedy that he has totally lost the track of the plot after a point.

Had the director stick with the plot, the film would have seemed a bit better. There won't be any complaints if the comedy is bang on the target. When the director and writers fails to get the comedy right then everything seems farcical and boring. Aatadukundam Raa is a plain silly film with absolutely no stuff in it.

They have used every trick in the book to make it a watchable fare, but none of it worked including the cameos of Chay and Akhil. Second half is a bit better compared to the totally worthless first half. Aatadukundam Raa is so bad that it couldn't hit any high note at any point of time. It almost looked like the team has given it up midway as if they knew that no one could save this mess. Take our advice and save yourself from this nonsense.

Verdict ::
On the whole, Aatadukundam Raa is a film with beaten to death formula and routine entertainment. Even though Sushanth and Pruthhvi try hard to save the film, the non-existent story and absurd comedy give a hard time for the audience. Watch it only if you have nothing else to do.

Oka Manasu Telugu Movie Review

               Movie                                                   Rating
   Oka Manasu                    6/10

Movie Name :: Oka Manasu (2016)

Cast  :: Naga Shourya, Niharika Konidela
Music :: Sunil Kashyap
Director :: Rama Raju Gottimukkala
Producer :: Madhura Sreedhar Reddy, TV9 Prakash

About Film ::

Sandhya (Niharika) is a house surgeon that falls in love with Surya (Shaurya) an aspiring politician. Surya wants to contest in the Municipal elections but falls prey to a friend's politics and ends up in jail. Surya comes out on bail after three years. Although Surya's future looks bleak Sandhya decides to live with him. Can they ever get together as Surya gets into deeper troubles

Performance ::

Naga Shaurya’s performance he has done complete justice to the character. Rao Ramesh, Avasarala Srinivas have supported the characters amazingly. Vennela Kishore and Krishna Bhagawan gave a slight comedy touch.

Niharika's debut movie has given her best and still needs to work on her emotional expressions. Few scenes she looked pale but in few she nailed it. Overall, good attempt Niharika

Analysis ::

Oka Manasu is a romantic drama that is set in contemporary times but will only appeal to people from the previous generations. Will a doctor blindly fall in love with some random guy with whom she sees no future? Oka Manasu is poetic, but it is impractical. There is scope for better drama with the conflict point, but the director chooses to make it a never ending saga of philosophical conversations between the lead pair. More than ninety percent of the scenes are on the lead pair itself. They meet in various places and keep on talking all the time. At times they kiss or hug! There is absolutely no chemistry between the lead pair.

It is hard to get involved into these sluggish proceedings even during the climax part where the story heads for an unusual ending. Love stories needs to be pleasant and make us root for the lead characters. But the lead pair in this film get on our nerves that we don't even feel the pain during their biggest miseries. There are sub plots and other characters that are not used at all. There is a lot of scope for drama, but Oka Manasu refuses to make use of it. It is not fair to compare this to a television serial. Even they are trying to be funny these days. On a whole, Oka Manasu is like an ultimate test for one's patience

Verdict ::   A Slow Romantic movie

Okka Ammayi Thappa Telugu Movie Review

          Movie                                              Rating
Okka Ammayi Thappa        6/10

Movie Name :: Okka Ammayi Thappa (2016)
Music :: Mickey J Meyer
Director :: Rajasimha Tadinada
Producer :: Bogadi Anji Reddy

About Film ::

Krishna Vachan (Sundeep Kishan) and Mango (Nitya Menon) are stuck in traffic on a flyover. Hardly any vehicle moves forward because of an accident and little does Krishna and Mango know that it is a terrorist ploy. Krishna Vachan comes to know that Mango is his childhood lover and tries to get in touch with her. Meanwhile he gets caught in the web of dreaded terrorist Anwar (Ravi Kishan), who makes Krishna Vachan follow his orders by threatening to kill Mango

Performance ::
Sundeep Kishan ::
Sundeep Kishan is alright in the lead role. His chemistry with Nitya Menon is impressive. The style and attitude shown by him when the protagonist gets on top of his game is good.

Nitya Menen ::
Nitya Menen has very little to do in this film. Wonder why she opted to do this film as she is known to be very selective about her choices. Ravi Kishan is over the top. Ajay is okay. Ali is funny at times. Tagubothu Ramesh and Prudhvi add little value. Brahmaji also is wasted in a miniscule role. There is nothing to say about the other star cast that hardly makes their presence felt.

Analysis ::

A childhood love story between Krishna Vachan and Mango which is not so effective and also fails to generate necessary depth. It then shifts to lives of Krishna Vachan and Mango and situations that lead them to the flyover and got stuck there. A love story starts on flyover which is pale in terms of believably and some comic scenes involving Sapthagiri which makes audience goes clueless on how to react. This first half makes audience bored to core and it only becomes interesting in the interval scene as it is the mucj needed bang after so much of disengaging scenes and comedy. Second half is also has nothing better than first half in terms of content and screenplay. Pre climax and Climax can be said as crux of the movie. Director and writer Rajasimha Tadinada has dones a negligible job with this movie. He added love and comedy to a thriller movie like “A Wednesday” which is very pale. Movie having this type of story needs a water tight and gripping screenplay to make audience glued to the screen. Director failed to handle screenplay which makes its a boring ride. To Sumup, watch this Oka Ammayi Thappa if you are a fan of Sundeep Kishan or has ample free time.

Verdict ::
Its Thrilling Action Entertainer, we must watch this weekend

A Aa Telugu Movie Review

Movie                  Rating
 A Aa            6.5/10

Movie Name :: A Aa (2016)

Cast :: Nithin, Samantha Ruth Prabhu
Music :: Mickey J Meyer
Director :: Trivikram
Producer :: K.Radhakrishna

About Film ::

Anasuya Ramalingam (Samantha) is fed up her strict mother (Nadiya) that dictates and decides everything in her life. She attempts suicide but that doesn't change her mother's attitude. Anasuya yearns for a change from the routine life and her father (Naresh) sends her to her aunt's house. Anasuya meets her cousin Anand Vihari (Nithin) in the train and the ten days that she spends with his family changes Anasuya forever. Although she falls in love with Anand, he is already engaged to some other girl (Anupama). So how do Anasuya and Anand overcome all the hurdles and make their love successful forms rest of the story.

Performance ::

Nithin::
 Nithin is perfect in the role of a boy next door with simple looks. He underplayed the character very well. His performance in the scene where he tells about the bad experience of his family to Samantha is superb. This is a tailor made character for him and he should be appreciated for taking up a story driven film that doesn't give much scope for his heroics.

Samantha ::
After a very long time Samantha got a character that gives her ample scope to perform. She is extremely good as Anasuya Ramalingam, a girl caught in between her mother and lover. Anasuya will surely be remembered as one of her best characters ever.

Others ::
Anupama did alright. This character seems underdeveloped. Nadiya is apt as the strict and unapologetic mother. Naresh complemented her well with his decent portrayal as hen-pecked husband. Rao Ramesh steals the show yet again. Ajay is good. Praveen got a meaty character and he did well. Avasarala Srinivas, Ananya, Hariteja, Shakalaka Shankar are aptly cast.

Analysis ::

First look “A Aa” appears to be a clever rehash of Bommarillu movie at its core. The father-son relation from Bommarillu is replaced with the mother-daughter relation in this movie. Later, Trivikram’s magic start to show as a second layer of ‘family values’ and ‘village backdrop’ are weaved into the plot. Natarajan Subramaniam, the cinematographer, has well presented the Trivikram’s vision of village landscapes on celluloid. While cinematographer captured the geographical beauty, Trivikram has captured the beauty of the people and nativity so well.

The audience will find like the feel good moments spread through the movie. However, do not expect Trivikram’s punch mark dialogues nor his trademark rib tickling comedy. There are good dialogues and one-liners but not of his previous works’ caliber. Screenplay wise it is pretty straight forward and scores good. Due to a single thread story, the second half of the movie is filled with routine scenes with lag. However, the climax more than makes up for it and the audience will come out of the theatre in a positive mood. All songs are situational, coming at appropriate timing and with good picturization. Rang De song stands out the best of the five songs.

Verdict ::

A lovely flick and good Family entertainer

Supreme Telugu Movie Review

Movie                                  Rating
Supreme                    7.5/10

Movie Name :: Supreme (2016)

Cast :: Sai Dharam Tej, Rashi Khanna
Music :: Sai Karthik
Director :: Anil Ravipudi
Producer :: Dil Raju

Supreme Movie Review
About Film ::

Balu (Tej) is a cab driver who falls in love with sub inspector Bellam Sridevi (Rashi Khanna). Balu comes across an orphan Anglo Indian kid Rajan (Mikhail) who lives on a footpath. Balu takes the boy along with him. This boy has an untold secret and his life is in danger. Vikram (Kabir) is after the kid and Balu have to save the boy from his men and help the boy achieve his goal.

Performance ::

Sai Dharam Tej

 He is extremely energetic and has good comedy timing. His dances and fights will appeal to the masses. However he has to work on his expressions in emotional scenes.

 Rashi Khanna

played the role of an entertaining cop. She is good within her limitations. She also added zing to the songs with her glamour.

Ravi Kishan too gets an entertaining character. He is competent. Kabir has nothing much to do except for looking stylish all the time. Sai Kumar and Rajendra Prasad did important characters. The real show stealer is the little kid Mikhail who is adorable. Vennela Kishore, Prudhvi, Posani, Srinivas Reddy and Prabhas Srinu did their bit in providing the comic relief.

Analysis ::

Supreme is an out and out commercial entertainer that banks heavily upon comedy. There is action, romance, sentiment and everything that we expect out of a commercial film. However except for comedy in parts and few action scenes there is nothing that really impresses the viewers. The plot is too thin and very predictable. Despite the routine scenes, first half of the film is passable with some comedy episodes delivering the laughs. The scenes related to Bellam Sridevi's family have come out well. Also the valet thieves episode clicks at times. Interval is alright with an expected twist.

The real trouble starts in the second half as there isn't any conflict in the story. Everything runs on a predictable note without any twists and turns making it a boring affair. Climax should have been handled better. Fight composed on the handicapped persons is a good commercial thought. All in all Supreme has its moments but lacks the punch that is very much needed for a commercial film. It is an okay watch if you go with little or no expectations. To cut the long story short it is an average offering from the Patas director.

Verdict ::
This flick cools summer heat

Raja Cheyyi Veste Telugu Movie Review

                        Movie                                         Rating
      Raja Cheyyi Veste 4.5/10

Movie Name :: Raja Cheyyi Veste

Cast :: Nara Rohit, Taraka Ratna, Isha Talwar
Music :: Sai Karthik
Director :: Pradeep Chilukuri
Producer :: Rajani Korrapati

Raja Cheyyi Veste Movie Review
About Film ::

Rajaram (Rohit) is a wannabe film director. He gets a message from a top director who asks Rajaram to write a love story for him. Rajaram writes his own love story and sends it to the director, but he says that he has scrapped that project and doing an action entertainer. He asks for a particular scene where the hero kills the villain and Rajaram sends the scene to the director. In return Rajaram gets a courier from the director asking him to execute the same plan and kill Manick (Taraka Ratna). The unknown caller keeps on harassing Rajaram to kill Manick and also attacks his girlfriend Chaitra (Isha Talwar).

Performance ::

Nara Rohit is in his elements. He needs to shed down few extra kilos to look better particularly in romantic scenes. He is at home in the emotional scenes. Taraka Ratna's makeup is out of place. Care should have taken on his styling and looks.

 He is anything but menacing in that villain character. Isha Talwar is beautiful and adds glamour to the proceedings. There are many actors in the supporting characters. Sivaji Raja, Sashank and Srinivas Avasarala made their presence felt.

Analysis ::

Raja Cheyyi Veste has a very intriguing twist towards the intermission point that sets the right mood for the second half. Even the second half starts on an interesting note with some thrilling scenes right after the interval point. However director loses grip over the narration after a while and the film starts to move at snail's pace.The flashback episode is the key for this film to keep the audiences interested about the rest of the story.

However that episode lacked emotional depth and the predictable ending makes it a boring fare. Director's attempt at intelligent play didn't translate on to the screen because of poor execution. One would expect a spell binding climax given the buildup to hero's intelligence. What Raja Cheyyi Vesthe offers is a lackluster ending with laughable emotions. This film could have been better if the conflict between the hero and villain is established well. Cat and mouse game should have been the plot device to run this sort of movie. Raja Cheyyi Vesthe ends up as a half baked film with many interesting ideas gone wasted.

Verdict :: once again disappointing the fans

Sarrainodu Telugu Movie Review

    Movie                             Rating
Sarainodu          6/10

Movie Name :: Sarainodu (2016)

Cast :: Allu Arjun, Rakul Preet Singh, Catherine Tresa
Music :: SS Thaman
Director :: Boyapati Srinu
Producer :: Allu Aravind

Sarrainodu  Movie Review

About Film ::

Gana (Allu Arjun) the son of Chief Secretary falls in love with local MLA (Catherine). When he decides to give up his rebellious attitude to marry her, in comes Maha (Rakul) with a big problem. Now Gana has to lock horns with blood thirsty, powerful criminal Dhanush (Aadi) to save Maha from the trouble. Who is this Maha and how is she linked to Dhanush? Why does she comes running to Gana for help

Performance ::

Allu Arjun: Allu Arjun has never attempted a full blooded massy entertainer in his career so far. Boyapati Srinu is particularly known for making mass masala films with heavy dose of violence and bloodshed. Allu Arjun effortlessly slips into the character. His bulked up body makes us believe that he has the raw power to kick and kill that many bad guys. Allu Arjun added his dose of comedy to the film with his antics and dialog delivery. Allu Arjun fans won't be disappointed with the film as the actor delivers a commendable performance all the way.

Rakul Preeth is just okay. All she has to do is look admiringly at Allu Arjun whenever he is bashing the bad guys. Catherine is a miscast as the MLA. Brahmanandam's comedy is stale, so is Vidyullekha's. There are a lot of noted actors in the film but none makes an impression including Srikanth.

Aadi Pinishetty and Others: Boyapati is known for creating some of the powerful villains Telugu film audience have ever seen. We expect a lot when an actor of Aadi caliber is given the antagonist role. Aadi looks suave and stylish. However he is not as menacing as he should be. His character is not etched properly as it loses steam after a while.

Analysis ::

A lot of buildup is given to the villain right from the first scene. We settle in expecting a tug of war between the villain and the hero. However hero is too powerful that any number of rowdies can't even pull out a button from his shirt. At least the director should have given the villain an upper hand for some time.

But nothing can stop the hero from whatever he does and wherever he wants to go. Even the villain looks like a mere puppet after a while. There is little depth in Boyapati's story that it struggles hard to keep going. Boyapati Srinu has included many fight scenes to keep the audiences interested.

All the stunts are choreographed in the same way. There is no variety and it gets hideous after some time. We expect a powerful climax because of the powerful villain, but all we are served is a run of the mill stuff that ends horribly predictable. There are few bright points about the film, but we cannot let this one pass off as a passable fare as there are so many more dark moments. Allu Arjun's spotless performance is the main highlight of this Boyapati's bland and boring mass masala offering.

Verdict ::

good attempt but not reach expectations

Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam Telugu Movie Review

                               Movie                                      Rating
Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam                  5/10

Movie Name :: Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam (2016)

Cast :: Vishnu Manchu, Raj Tarun, Sonarika, Hebah Patel
Music :: Sai Karthik
Director :: G. Nageswara Reddy
Producer :: Rama Brahmam Sunkara

About Film ::

Arjun (Vishnu) falls in love with Neelaveni (Sonarika), who wants to marry an orphan. Arjun lies that he is an orphan and marries her. Neelavani rents an upper portion in a lawyer's (Rajendra Prasad) house. He is none other than Arjun's father. Arjun tries to save his marriage by introducing his friend Ashwin (Raj Tarun) to his father as Neelaveni's husband. Meanwhile Ashwin had to lie to his girlfriend Supriya (Hebah) and her brother about his background. The confusion plot thickens after that.

Performance ::

Vishnu Manchu has always excelled in comedy entertainers. Comedy is his forte and he proves it yet again with ERAR. Vishnu is certainly at home in this film. Raj Tarun is as natural as always. In his first multi-starrer, Raj has complemented Vishnu and the chemistry between these two actors is one of the biggest plus points. Sonarika and Hebah's oozing oomph will please the masses. Rajendra Prasad is superb in the father role. Ravibabu is alright. Satya Krishna is good. Supreeth and Abhimayu Singh are their usual self. Sunil did a special appearance in the introduction song.

Analysis ::

Confusion dramas like these are not new to our audience. The story of ERAR might not be out-of-the-box one but it's the treatment that changed the course and made the film complete entertainer. Right from the word go, the movie tries to tickle the funnybones of viewers. There are several laugh-out-loud moments that will definitely strike a chord with the mass audience. The comedy gets better as the story moves forward. Interval block is hilarious to the core.

Second half follows the formula and offers passable entertainment all the way. You may easily watch this film once for its fun moments and the performances from the main characters. Some comedy parts lacked the punch, but the film gets back on track with a hilarious scene whenever it goes off the mark for a while.
Barring few cliched moments and double entendres,  ERAR is a paisa vasool comedy with hilarious moments and genuinely funny dialogues. This might work well with B and C centres. Audiences who love to watch comedies will surely like this fun-tastic confusion drama.

Verdict ::  one Time Watchable movie

Sardaar Gabbar Singh Telugu Movie Review

    Movie                                                                 Rating

           Sardaar Gabbar Singh                 8.3/10

Movie Name :: Sardaar Gabbar Singh (2016)

Cast :: Pawan Kalyan, Kajal Aggarwal, Raai Laxmi
Music :: Devi Sri Prasad
Director :: K. S. Ravindra
Producer :: Sharrath Marar

Sardaar Gabbar Singh Movie Review

About Film ::

Sardaar (Pawan Kalyan) comes to Rathanpur a village in Chattisghad that is ruled by a feudal lord called Bhairav Singh (Sharad Khelkar). Sardaar is a maverick cop who likes to play around and he falls in love with Princess in distress Arshi (Kajal). Sardaar confronts Bhairav, who is eyeing the princess. What will Sardar do to save his love and the people of Rathanpur?

Performance ::

Pawan Kalyan :: It is purely one man show of Powerstar Pawan Kalyan. He is there in ninety five percent of the movie. It looked as if he is almost giving his best shot from saving this from being a disaster. He did everything he can possibly do in a film. Pawan was so determined to impress the fans by hook or crook that he went on to imitate Chiranjeevi's iconic veena step. Despite his hard work and antics and energy and what not Pawan couldn't save the day for Sardaar.

Kajal Agarwal::  does look like a damsel in distress. She doesn't have that princely charm that she had in Magadheera. She looked tired and pale in most of the scenes. Her performance is alright. Sharad Khelkar looks tough as the villain. Dubbing artist has done a phenomenal job for him. However his character is poorly etched. There are loads of comedians around Pawan Kalyan. Ali's presence is felt as he gets to mouth few punch dialogues. Brahmanandam's comedy didn't work. Mukesh Rushi, Brahmaji and Urvashi have done their bit. Lakshmi Rai is gorgeous in the item song, but Sanjana almost goes unnoticed in many scenes.

Analysis ::

The very Rowdy robin hood cop of Ratanpur, Gabbar Singh helps the royal family of Hari Narayan and priness Arshini Devi from the evil clutches of Bhairav Singh, a heir of the royal family, who destroys the green fields of the farmers in the name of mining and grabs their land. Gabbar Singh falls for Arshini Devi, who is also eyed by Bhairav Singh. Will Gabbar Singh be able to successfully free the villagers from Bhairav Singh and will princess Arshini Devi accept Gabbar Singh’s marriage proposal on the grounds of he being not a part of any royal family, is what rest of the movie forms.

Their are all kinds of commercial elements in the movie, which are expected in every Pawan Kalyan movie. He carries the entire movie on his shoulders and that’s the kind of superstar he is. The foot tapping music, and the background score backing the action sequences are clap worthy. The main USP of the movie after Pawan Kalyan are the high voltage action sequences, mostly shot in slow-mo are projecting the superstar’s awesomeness.

Pawan Kalyan is heroic from start to end. The only other actor who leaves an impact after Pawan Kalyan  is Sharad Kelkar (Bhairav Singh) who plays the villain. He is effortlessly classy as a baddie. Kajal Aggarwal once again plays the designer dress clad doll in this movie, although the chemistry between the lead pair is daunting. The massive fan following of Pawan Kalyan will ignore the length of the movie, running for almost 3 hours and the cliche story, which we are watching since the 70s. But Pawan Kalyan being the Salman Khan of Tollywood is enough to pour all kinds masala in his movies which quenches our thirst for a good entertaining movie.

Verdict ::

Every one must watch this film its a enjoyable with the right dose of action, romance, and comedy.

Oopiri Telugu Movie Review

Movie                                         Rating

 Oopiri                          6.9/10

Movie Name :: Oopiri (2016)

Cast :: Akkineni Nagarjuna, Karthi, Tamannah
Music :: Gopi Sundar
Director :: Vamsi Paidipally
Producer :: PVP Cinema

Oopiri Movie Review
About Film ::
Vikramaditya (Nag) is a filthy rich entrepreneur who has thousands of crores, but he is a paraplegic. He needs to find a caretaker to take care of everything about him. Sreenu (Karthi) is a spoiled brat and thief who come out of jail on parole. He has to prove to the judges that he could be well behaved to get out from trouble. He takes up the caretaker job of Vikramaditya and how they influence each other's lives is what this film is about.

Performance ::

Nagarjuna ::

 No words to describe Nagarjuna's courage to take up such a character. He is superb as the paraplegic billionaire. Despite being in the wheel chair all the time, the charm of Nagarjuna is present all the time.

Karthi::

Karthi is a very good choice for this character. He gets into the skin of the character and lives every moment of it. The result is the finest performance ever in his career so far.

Tamanna ::

Tamanna is elegant and suave in her role. She is very good with her expressions too. Prakash Raj and Jayasudha add value to the proceedings. All the actors are aptly cast and delivered their best.

Analysis ::

Oopiri is one of the best movies of our times. It is not a film but an experience. We cannot describe the pleasure of watching it in words. It has to be felt as an audience. It is a terrific adaptation of the French classic The Intouchables by Vamshi Paidipally and his team. They were successful in recreating the magic of original and also in connecting with the sentiments of our audience.Oopiri is another milestone in Nagarjuna's career who has many memorable movies in his kitty already. Karthi will sure become a household name in Telugu states after his portrayal of Sreenu in this film.

This film belongs to Nag and Karthi. They were extremely believable in the lead roles and made the director's job easy.Oopiri is all about moments and emotions. It cannot be seen as a simple film based on two people. There is so much depth into it and there is life in it. This is one of those films that cannot be missed at any cost. It is an experience that needs to be cherished by every film lover. Leave everything and just book your ticket now. Highly recommended.

Verdict ::

This film is a master piece  that will sure make a lot of noise in Tollywood. With a well written script and right execution, the lead actors and the technical values elevated the film which makes Oopiri a must watch.

Run Telugu Movie Review

Movie                                       Rating
Run                    5/10

Movie Name :: Run (2016)

Cast :: Sundeep Kishan, Anisha Ambrose
Music :: Sai Karthik

Run Movie Review

About Film ::

Sanju (Sundeep) life goes topsy-turvy as he loses his job. He takes loan from a dreaded loan shark named Vaddi Raju (Bobby Simha). He is very notorious and has his own style of getting back his money. Finally the day arrives where Sanju has to return the money he took from Raju. While Sanju's friend helps him to get the amount, a thief nabs the money from Sanju and run away. Sanju has to find a way to repay the loan by 5 PM. Meanwhile his girlfriend (Anisha) is kidnapped by Raju for another reason.

Performance ::

Sundeep Kishan is good as the common man who is caught in a situation. His subtle body language and dialog delivery suited the character. Anisha is pretty. Bobby Simha is a revelation. He is too good as the villain. Brahmaji as a comedy cop is decent. Praveen, Madhu and Posani were fine in their supporting characters. Mahat is alright as a careless guy.

Analysis ::

Run has a very short run time of 109 minutes, but it surprisingly runs at a leisure pace. Films having such little run time are supposed to gripping and moving at a breakneck pace. However Run takes its own sweet time to unfold and there are many passages in the film that are totally uninteresting and out of place.

Movie gets interesting when two thieves rob the hero and heroine in two different places. It loses steam due to the uneven characterization of the villain. The attempts at comedy were misfired due to bad casting. Run only gets back on track when a surprising twist comes just before the climax.

Run is a film that will appeal to audience who look for freshness, but it has its shortcomings. It could have been a good film if there were better comedic moments and thrilling elements thrown into the narrative. The attempt can be lauded but not the end product. You may watch it if you are game for something different from the usual.

Kathakali Review
About Film ::

Kamalakar (Vishal) and his family are tortured by a local rowdy Samba who is against Kamalakar's brother's wish to setup an independent business. Kamalakar seeks revenge but he moves on. While he is about to marry his girlfriend (Catherine), Samba is killed and Kamalakar is the prime suspect for the murder. Kamalakar doesn't know how to get out of the trap laid by a cunning police officer. So he executes a plan to find the murderer.

Performance ::

Vishal is good as the regular guy. This is one of his finest performances till date. Cathrine is okay as the girlfriend. She goes missing after a point. She is just used for the romantic track and is hardly seen in the second half. Karunas comedy doesn't work. The actor who played the role of police inspector is menacing. Jayaprakash is wasted.

Analysis ::

Like most of the Tamil films, Kathakali too had a simple plot but an interesting screenplay. It is based on the revenge drama but Pandya Raj did it in whodunit style. It takes so much time to get on track. Romantic episode between Vishal and Catherine is anything but interesting. Same scenes are repeated until we get bored of it.

Story gets interesting before the interval as the main villain is killed and all fingers point at the hero. Pandya Raj did well in holding the interest of the viewers for a while, but even the mystery element gets uninteresting as the film takes predictable path. Climax part looks contrived as if the director is in a hurry to end it.

Kathakali could have been better had the director continued to throw surprises at us until the end. Even the big reveal at the end didn't make an impact because of lazy and cinematic climax. There are scenes that are worth watching but Kathakali falls flat on a whole.

Verdict ::

It is a good entertainer that slowly builds into an action packed thriller.
